  • General Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility of the Music Therapist is to develop and implement innovative music therapy programs to meet the social, physical, and mental health needs of individuals living in and around the Truckee Meadows. This position entails both direct service duties and administrative duties. This position assists with the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers. This position also entails regular contact with program participants, parents, community agencies, and donors. The music therapist also assists in the planning, preparation and execution of various community concerts, fundraising activities and special events as needed. Please note: Preference will be given to bilingual applicants.

  • Work with music therapy clinical team to assess community service needs

    Implement community-based music and music therapy programs

    Teach individual and group adaptive music classes

    Conduct individual and group music therapy sessions

    Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant progress

    Support collaborative programs with community partners

    Represent the agency at networking and community meetings

    Recruit, train, and oversee program volunteers

    Assist with grant writing and fundraising for programs as needed

    Work with staff, executive director, and board to set organizational goals, create and implement action plans, and evaluate results

    Assist in organizational marketing/outreach activities

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in music therapy

    Board certification in music therapy (MT-BC)

    Nevada state license in music therapy (may be obtained upon hire)

    Ability to read music

    Proficiency in at least one instrument

    Meet basic competencies in at least guitar, piano, and voice

    Experience with curriculum and program development

    Previous nonprofit experience preferred

    Experience working with people from a wide range of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds preferred

  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner in the community

    Ability to work independently

    Ability to work with a variety of ages, populations, and skill settings

    Ability to teach successfully in 1:1 and group setting

    Excellent organizational skills

    Above-average computer skills (must be competent in at least Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Excellent data management skills

    Ability to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers

    Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Ability to create, compose and edit quality written material

    Ability to work with executive director and staff to make organizational decisions Above-average ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally

    Willingness to work flexible hours with occasional evenings and weekends, especially during special events

    The ability to sit for up to one hour at a time.

    Must be current on vaccinations, including being fully vaccinated against COVID-19

  • $42,000 – $52,000 per year
