It All Begins With an Idea

The idea that we all deserve access to music has grown into the Note-Able Music Therapy Services you see today, but we’re just getting started.

The video below gives a preview of what’s in store for the outdoor areas of our facility, and why it’s so important for our community to Give, Grow, and Gather.

Entering the next phase

It’s time to dream big for the outside!

NMTS is preparing to transform our very rundown outdoor space into an oasis of trees, green spaces, gardens, and gathering spaces.

NMTS’ new grounds will provide ample spaces for:

  • Respite and relaxation

  • Play

  • Programs

  • Community gatherings

  • A garden in partnership with Soulful Seeds

  • Summer performances

We ALL need access to green spaces

We all benefit from access to green spaces, trees, gardens, and outdoor gathering spaces. For many in our community, access to green space is limited due to physical accessibility, safety concerns, and transportation.

NMTS is conveniently located near four low-income housing complexes for seniors and people with disabilities and is in the heart of one of Reno’s lowest income neighborhoods. People with disabilities, seniors, and people living near the poverty line do not have easy access to Reno’s existing park systems. Due to the demographics of NMTS’ participants and the surrounding neighborhood of NMTS, our new outdoor space will be designed with these populations in mind while also benefitting the community as a whole. Our new outdoor space will host inclusive community events, outdoor performances, camps and children’s activities, community gardening events and classes, and free distribution of fresh produce.

Where are we?

Our facility is ideally located next to Silver Sage Senior Housing, Rita Cannan Elementary School, High Desert Montessori, Rosewood Rehabilitation Center, United Cerebral Palsy, and the Oddie District.

Sharing our vision

In many areas of the country, music therapy is only available through hospitals, schools, or other institutions. At NMTS, we know the benefits of music therapy can be transformative for people and even communities as a whole. That is why we are creating a regional center for music and health where everyone can access adaptive music and music therapy services in a safe, accessible, and welcoming space.

At NMTS, we are proud to be a national model for community-based music therapy that values and welcomes diversity in all of its facets.
